What is a perspective grid?

A perspective grid is a set of guide lines that converge on one, two or three vanishing points, so that anything you draw along them sits correctly in space. Artists use one under a sketch the way architects use a drafting board: it settles the eye level, the angle of every wall and floor, and how quickly things shrink with distance.

A perspective grid generator draws that grid for you. The difference here is that the grid is computed from a real camera model rather than points dragged by hand, so a 24 mm grid looks like a 24 mm photograph, a 50 mm grid looks like a 50 mm one, and the grid can be exported as a transparent PNG or SVG layer and used in Procreate, Photoshop, Clip Studio, Krita or on paper. If you are new to this, start with how to draw perspective, then pick a grid: one-point for a straight-on room or road, two-point for a corner, three-point when you look up or down, and curvilinear for very wide, fisheye views.
